【Features】
Brown cap with white gills and stem. Wild shiitake has a much stronger aroma than cultivated varieties, with thick, firm flesh. In Yunnan, China, it is highly prized as a gift of the mountains.
Dried wild shiitake has a concentrated fragrance and is considered a premium ingredient.
【Growing Environment】
Grows naturally on fallen or decayed hardwoods (especially Quercus species) at altitudes of 1000 – 2500 m. Appears during spring and autumn rainy seasons.
【Distribution】
Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou provinces.
【Nutritional Value】
High protein, low fat, vitamin D, dietary fiber, lentinan (immune-boosting compound). Supports immunity, may help reduce cholesterol, and has potential anti-tumor properties.
